Hearing Him

During this time of pandemic, social unrest, and violence, when many hearts are filled with fear and despair, we need more than ever to "hear Him". We live in a time when news is often more sensationalism and entertainment than non-biased reporting; when factual "eye witness" accounts may be mere fantasy; and when Posts, Tweets, and videos often present half truths, and even lies, which may mislead us. 

How can we know which things to believe when even photos can be changed through electronic means? Obviously, even considerable study is no longer enough. Since we live in a time of darkness and deception, we need more understanding than just our senses can give us. As the scriptures direct us, we need to have "our minds enlightened", and we need the peaceful confirmation of truth that we can only receive from God. We need to ponder the scriptures, serve others, feel gratitude for all we have, then we must quietly close our eyes in prayer. Only then, when we shut out all the busyness and strident voices, can we hear that still small voice which brings peace, hope, love, and a confirmation of truth to our hearts and minds.
