Why Do I Celebrate Easter?

To many Easter is just a traditional holiday; a day when they celebrate spring; a day of bunnies, chicks, chocolate, and Easter egg hunts. Of course I'm ready for a celebration when spring finally comes, but this is not why I celebrate Easter. Like me, some remember that the bunnies, chicks, and eggs are to remind us of new life. They represent the hope for the future that we have through the atonement of our Savior.

Some people claim that when a person dies, life is over.  They are right that we do not have the power to refuse to die, or to bring someone back to life. Though we do not have such power, our God, our creator, surely does. Through the exercise of His power, the Savior made it so that all men's spirit and body can be eternally reunited.  We will then be a complete soul; not just a spirit.

I was very touched by this 2015  Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square video.  It shows the hope the Savior gives to us. Though I've never been in a physical prison, I feel that wrong choices can confine us in mental prisons even more limiting. I am so grateful to be able to learn form my mistakes, to apologize, to start over. I don't think I could continue if I felt I could not improve. After a day of saying and doing the wrong things, my life is a tangled mess. The discouraging thing is that I really am trying. This is the best I can do. I am trying to learn from my experience, but I don't know how to straighten out all my learning mistakes. I don't have the power to give myself a new start. Our Savior's love, strength, and sacrifice makes it so that I can look forward each day with hope -- the hope that I can become a better person.

Why do I rejoice that our Savior came to the earth, laid down His life for us, and took it up again?  Because it gives me hope.  Because of Him, I look forward to seeing my grandparents again, and being with my husband and children forever.  When I make a mistake, it isn't permanent.  With His help, I can try again and become a better person.  I couldn't bear not to be able to progress and grow.  I couldn't live without the hope our Savior gives us.

Why We Need a Savior

This video really makes give a lot to think about. We have so much to thank our Savior for. Without Him life would have no purpose and there could be no change and growth. I am so grateful for His love and help.

Light in a Dark World

It is the middle of winter;

a time when the days are often gray

and plants are dormant or dead.

Perhaps this is when we need

light and hope the most.

The glittering holidays are over,

and it is now time to face stark reality.

Now is the time to allow the light He brought

to give us hope in our dark world.

What do Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe about Justice, Mercy, and Grace?

I love this video. It explains how we need a mediator in our lives, and how our Savior meets both the demands of justice and our need for mercy.

A woman said recently that she didn't think she could walk with Christ when she died. Are any of us worthy to do so?  Can any of us grow and change on our own? I know I've tried, but like a person lost, I repeatedly end up back where started. If we try to become Christlike by ourselves, we will fail. We make mistakes everyday (almost every moment). Only through the power, the grace, which our Savior gives us, can we change. He can do anything. He has paid for all our mistakes. He has the power to help us change. All we need to do is try.
