Seeing the Hope in Christmas with terminal Cancer

Christmas is such a special season of the year. It is full of twinkling lights, and the scent of pine and gingerbread. It is a time when Christmas music fills the air, presents are given, and childhood memories come flooding back as we spend time with family and friends. In this season, we celebrate the good in life and are reminded of what is truly the most important to us.

Christmas Decorations Meanings

Just a day before Christmas I had a strange visitor. This is how it happened . . .

I had just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door of the front room, and to my surprise, Santa Claus himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree.

Christmas Spirit

A little girl reminds her family of what Christmas is really about. I like this video. As adults we can get so preoccupied with things that don't really matter.

The Reason Behind Christmas

I like this video about children helping an older man find joy in Christmas. Children can remind us of so much that is important. They have a joy in living. Sometimes as we get older we allow our hurts and disappointments to rob of of this joy.  It also reminds us of not letting commercialism take over and spoil our Christmas season.

Christmas Questions

I was looking at my December Calendar and began to feel a little overwhelmed with all I wanted to do so I wrote this to give me perspective.

Christmas Questions
by Cheryl Merrick

As I attempt to do more in two weeks
than I normally do in two months,
I begin to ask Questions.

Can I really do all this?
Should I be doing it?
Do I have the strength to do it?
Is it the best use of my limited energies?
Will it bring peace and joy into my life
and the lives of those I love?
Am I sacrificing things of eternal value
for things that are merely good?
Am I enjoying peace on earth?
Am I so busy doing things that
I forget the meaning of Christmas?
Am I savoring the season?
Am I remembering Christ?

I have written many other poems which I am posting on my other blog
