Hearing Jesus Christ through scripture reading

I have been thinking about what is said is this video, "Revelation is thoughts to the mind and feelings to the heart". Reading the scriptures helps him to experience these thoughts and feelings. They help me also to feel the spirit of the Lord.

The scriptures have always been my lifeline. When I was a girl and troubled by the discord within my family, I would read scripture stories before I went to bed, then I could fall asleep. As an adult, I have continued to turn to the scriptures.  When I have felt alone, frightened, worried, overwhelmed, or have been experiencing anxiety attacks, reading the scriptures has helped me to hold on. They have brought me comfort and have allowed me to feel the love that my Heavenly Father and my Savior have for me. I no longer feel alone, and I have the strength to go on when I read the scriptures.

I don't know if others experience this, but I receive personal messages from the scriptures. They are not just inspiring stories or have lessons to learn from other's mistakes and triumphs, but they give me real, specific help when I need it.  An example is when at night before I go to bed, I think of some concern I have, then I pick up my scriptures letting them open to where they may. I always find words of comfort and direction right before me on the page. I may be feeling fearful and want to quit, then before me on the page of scripture are words on having courage and enduring to the end. With this sense of peace and understanding of what I should do, I can fall asleep.
