I'm Thankful for my ancestors who came on the Mayflower

I'm grateful for all my ancestors who left their homes and came to this "new land". Today, on Thanksgiving, I'm especially thankful for my family members who gave up their homes and livelihood, and left family and friends in England because of their faith.

They set an example for me of standing up for their principles. They believed that God would give revelation to man. I also believe this and it gives me a sense of connection to my many great grandparents, Priscilla Mullins and John Alden, who braved the ocean on the Mayflower for religious freedom.

I admire that they didn't give up and return to England even after that first winter when so many of their group died. John and Priscilla helped to establish a settlement in America and raised a large family. I'm thankful to have such good and strong ancestors.
