I know some of you may laugh that I didn't know that my Mac Laptop had “Pages”. Others may wonder what “Pages” is. I have been in this last group. I’ve had my laptop for five years now and I didn't know that it had a built in word processor. Also, I didn't know that I can dictate to my computer and it will type it for me.
Yesterday, I had a problem. Actually, I have many problems, but yesterday I was determined to find a way to both write and exercise. Because of my insulin resistance, I must be active in the morning, but as a writer, that is the best time to write. I’m full of ideas, and I'm not tired yet.
In the past, I have seen my choice as either becoming a good “Little Miss Homemaker” and doing housework all morning, or being a writer. I either keep moving doing depressing activity, or sit and write only to feel ill the rest of the day. Yes, I want to make a home, but I don’t want it to be my life. I want time to do what I enjoy; I want time to write.
There had to be a way. Since I had prayed for help, I wasn’t surprised when a memory of going through the introductory video on how to use my laptop came to my mind. I remembered dictating something. But how did I do it?
Since those early days, I have learned how to find answers through Google search, so I looked up how to dictate on a Mac laptop. It mentioned that I could dictate into “Pages” which was a free program that came with my laptop. Now, I was searching for some mysterious “Pages”. On the way there, I discovered “Launch pad” (You “techy" people keep the laughter down). So after some practice and some more study, here I am dictating my first post into “Pages”!
This is why I’m grateful for problems. If I hadn't had a problem to solve, than I never would have learned about all these wonderful options that are right there before me. I just didn't know it. Some challenges are hard and some are fun, but they are all worth it!
