As a mother, grandmother, and teacher, it has been an amazing experience to help nurture others and to be a significant influence in their lives. I've also been thinking of how much I have learned through this service.
- Patience - growth and change take time - a lifetime
- Faith - act knowing and focused on potentiel
- Love - put your whole soul into helping others
- Acceptance - that real love often means saying, "No"
- Trust - in others' underlying goodness
- Work - relationships and developing talents takes time and effort
- Forgiveness - look inward before judging another
- Appreciation - value effort and intent, not just the product
- Compassion - see with the heart
- Openness - willingness to consider new ideas
- Persistence - never quit trying or loving
- Courage - to give what is needed not just wanted
- Humor - laugh often with others and at yourself
- Enjoy - the small moments in life; rejoice in the sunrise or the ant
- Fun - dance and play through your day
- Honesty - admit mistakes
- Learn - keep growing and trying
- Enthusiasm - pursue what you are passionate about
- Resilience - embrace the "learning experiences"
- Humility - listen to others and allow them to help you
- Choice - I can choose the act, but not its consequences
- Freedom - allowing others to walk their own path
- Perspective - knowing that God can accomplish great things through our small imperfect efforts and will make up for all our shortcomings
